David Ellams selected as Newport South by-election candidate
Telford & Wrekin Lib Dems are delighted to announce the selection of David Ellams as the candidate in the Newport Town Council (South Ward) by-election.
David Ellams is a local resident who is committed to improving our town. He grew up in Shropshire from a young age. After living all over the place as a young adult, he returned “home”.
Having lived in Newport for 12 years, David wants to give something back to the town he loves. He has been involved with Thomas Janke’s Focus Team for 10 years, arranging petitions and residents’ surveys and helping with the Focus newsletter. David works in IT, helping to put into place clinical computer systems for NHS trusts.
David is endorsed by Cllr Thomas Janke:
“David cares deeply about Newport. He will make a great Town Councillor!”
David's priorities for Newport:
Improve road safety
Continue the Focus Team’s work in pushing for safer routes to school, so more children can walk and cycle. This includes lobbying for more crossings, measures to address speeding and fixing potholes and pavements.
Campaign to tackle flooding
New investment is coming to address flooding in Telford & Wrekin, but we must ensure it does not all go to Telford – Newport has flooding issues, too, and must get its fair share.
Listen to local residents
Like the rest of the Focus Team, David will keep in touch with residents all year round, be contactable and act on the local concerns they raise.
