Lib Dems gain from Tories in Newport South by-election

Lib Dem candidate David Ellams has beaten the Conservatives in the town council by-election in Newport South.

David has expressed his sincere thanks to local residents for putting their faith in him

“Whether you voted for me or not, I will represent you to the best of my abilities on the town council,” said David.

The results clearly show that only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Newport South - Labour and the Green Party cannot win this ward.

The full results were as follows:

  • Lib Dem: 192
  • Conservative: 174
  • Independent: 167
  • Labour: 74
  • Green: 58
