Liberal Democrats take control of Shropshire Council

The Liberal Democrats have taken control of Shropshire Council for the first time since its formation.
Lib Dem candidates won in 42 of the 74 divisions, with Reform in second place and the Conservatives pushed to a distant third. Included in the dramatic results was Cheswardine, taken by our own local party's candidate, Neil Bentley, by just 15 votes.
“We are delighted at the result,” Roger Evans, co-leader of the Lib Dem group on the council said.
"We have withstood the advance of Reform because we're there for the community and that's what we want Shropshire Council to be in the future."
